1-This party believes in independence for Scotland outside of the United Kingdom. It is broadly a left of centre socialist

2-This is a broadly left of centre but non-socialist party. It has broadly liberal views but is not motivated by any specific factions within society. It is strongly pro-European and is very strong in local government.

3-This party stands for individual self reliance and consequently low taxation. It is traditionally strongly supported by business and the more affulent classes. It is currently taking a strongly non-federalist view of the European Union.

4-These parties strongly wish to maintain Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom.

5- This party was founded by the Unions and has traditionally been supported by the working classes. Recently it has moved strongly to the centre ground and has tried to change its image as a party of high taxation. It is now seen as broadly supporting the major features of the welfare state.
